Sheriff's deputies from Delta and Gunnison counties, as well as a trooper from the Colorado State Patrol, responded to a domestic violence call on Cottonwood Creek Road near Crawford on Jan. 30. The first deputies arrived on the scene around 6:40 a.m.
The 35-year-old occupant of the house allegedly threw his wife's property onto the lawn and set fire to it. He also reportedly pushed her down. When their teenage son tried to intervene, he was allegedly attacked. Then the adult male grabbed a handgun, stepped outside and reportedly fired a round into the air. He left the house but was located on a nearby hillside. He was unarmed and was taken into custody without incident. He faces two counts of third degree assault, child abuse, prohibited use of a firearm, criminal mischief and violation of a protection order, all with a sentencing enhancement of domestic violence.blog comments powered by Disqus
