In November, the Cedaredge FFA chapter sent eight members to the 86th National FFA Convention in Louisville, Ky. The theme of the convention was "Fuel Passion, Spark Action, Ignite FFA."
The eight members — Brianna Morton, James Osborne, Lacey Love, Kendra Volgamore, Megan Wick, Dominique Attarian, Tristen Waddell and Garrett Meyers — were escorted by Ms. Johnson and Mr. Morton.
They visited The Derby Dinner Playhouse where they ate dinner and watched a play. They also went to Maker's Mark, a whiskey distillery, and toured a tobacco farm, Louisville Slugger, Churchill Downs, a Corvette museum, a saddlebred horse farm, downtown Nashville and the Country Music Hall of Fame. They ate lunch at Colonel Sanders' house.
The convention made a huge impact on every person who attended the sessions. Keynote speakers highlighted life-changing topics that left everyone wanting to become better versions of themselves. Speakers included Josh Sundquist, the coach of the Cardinals, the president of Dodge Ram (who also donated a million dollars to the organization), the president of John Deere, retiring FFA officers and more.
According to Brianna Morton, "It was really inspiring and I know it made a big impression on all who went. It inspired us to be true to who we are and know that we need to take pride in FFA and use it to our advantage in how we serve our community and help others. Just to be proud to be in the organization we are in."
The 86th National Convention proved to be a phenomenal trip for the Cedaredge FFA chapter. The eight members who attended carry with them a sense of pride in their organization and a desire to become their personal best.blog comments powered by Disqus
