The May 19 meeting of the New Pride of the Valley 4-H Club started at 4 p.m. and roll call was everyone's favorite part of fair. There was no secretary's report.
The treasurer's report was given by our beef leader Angie, and as of the month of April we have $186.03 dollars in our bank account.
Old business was swine weigh-in, and highway cleanup was right after our last meeting.
On June 15, the Jackpot will be held in Hotchkiss at the fairgrounds. There are new fair rules for 2013. Since everyone in our 4-H club is doing the premiere speech award, we were informed that the speeches will be held on the Saturday before fair. Also, record books are due the same time that members do their speeches. Junior speeches need to be two minutes long, intermediate speeches need to be three minutes long, and senior speeches need to be five minutes long.
There is going to be a street walk this year, on a Wednesday, Tuesday, or Thursday in July. For our fundraisers, we are doing a car wash and a yard sale on June 8 at 9 a.m. For the club wall decorating, Jennifer Abila and Angel Sharpe are in charge. The theme is "Country Pride, County Wide." Every club goes to decorate the club wall on Aug. 2 at 6 p.m. For our next meeting, we decided that everyone needs to bring an idea or supplies for how we will create our wall. We are also going to get the wall done ahead of time for less hassle.
Our meeting times are changing from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays since we have no school. Our next meeting is going to be June and July combined because there will be a lot of people gone on vacation.
Alex Abila gave a demonstration on leather crafting, Sarah Parker gave one on how the lungs work, and Rieley McCulloch gave one on freeze branding.
There is going to be a beef record book meeting on Tuesday, June 4, at 6:30 p.m.
