Through a presidential proclamation, January 2014 has been declared National Mentoring Month. This 13th annual public awareness campaign is aimed at expanding quality mentoring programs to connect more of our nation's young people with the mentors they need to reach success at school, at home, in their communities and in the workforce.
National Mentoring Month provides an opportunity to celebrate the power of mentoring relationships and the effect they have on our community.
Partners Mentoring of Delta, Montrose and Ouray is proud to play a part in enriching our communities' youth by providing important and necessary mentoring services for the last 27 years. It's hoped you will participate in National Mentoring Month by supporting the Partners program now and in the coming years. For an average of three hours a week you, too, can make a difference in the life of a child by volunteering as a mentor. Children who have mentors are less likely to drop out of school, try illegal substances or lie to their parents. They are also more likely to go on to higher education, join service clubs and become active in volunteerism and the community.
Partners is always looking for new mentors, in both one-to-one mentoring and Art Partners, as well as volunteers for our activities and fundraisers. If you are interested in becoming a mentor or investing in the Partners program, please call 874-4661 or visit www.partners-west.org for more information.blog comments powered by Disqus
