Cedaredge FFA has kept busy with trips, projects

Their activities started with the 3rd annual Taste of Agriculture Tailgate party on Sept. 7, offering people attending the football game many local agricultural products.

VFW renews tradition of honoring patriotism

Quinn and Jaspar Carmichael.This year marks the 76th anniversary of the establishment of Delta's Lee Marts Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3571 and Ladies Auxiliary. And, on Dec. 10, the Post and Auxiliary members renewed a tradition of many decades by honoring student achievement and teachers in the community.

The Post's annual Christmas potluck supper was the setting for honors that the local VFW gave to winners in its Voice of Democracy writing contest for high school students, and to winners in its Patriot Pen writing contest for middle school students.

Paonia Garden Club begins its 63rd year

The Paonia Garden Club is starting its 63rd year as a garden club. From September to June, club members meet the first Thursday of every month in different members' homes. The 18 members come from the mesas surrounding Paonia as well as Bowie and Hotchkiss.

Ready for Christmas

a04 astraPhoto submitted Ready for Christmas The ASTRA Clubs of Cedaredge High School, Delta High School and Delta Opportunity School helped Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado by decorating their Delta office for the Christmas season. ASTRA is an international community service organization under the auspices of Altrusa International. The three local clubs help their community in various ways from supporting their local food pantry or food bank, to helping the City of Delta with various family activities such as the Lil Boo Bash. They also help their sponsoring Altrusa Club at the annual Sugar Plum Festival each year.

TOPS chapter reaches milestone

The Delta chapter of TOPS — Take Off Pounds Sensibly — was recently recognized for being an active chapter for 45 years.

TOPS Co. 0110 meets at the Grand Mesa Oncology Center on the campus of Delta County Memorial Hospital every Wednesday with a private weigh-in from 5:30 to 6 p.m.
