Black Canyon Chorus installs new board

The Black Canyon Barbershop Chorus installed its board members for 2013. The chorus serves the community with song throughout the year. This year, events include singing valentines on Feb. 14 and the chorus’s annual show June 15 at the Montrose Pavilion. 4-H top honors

c04 4hPhoto submitted 4-H top honors These members of the 4-H livestock judging team from our area went to Phoenix to compete in the livestock judging contest at the Arizona National Livestock Show. The contest was held on Dec. 30, and our 4-H team members judged beef, sheep, and hog classes. The senior team took first place overall with many individual ribbons won by both the senior and junior 4-H members. Crawford speakers

b02 speakersPhoto submitted Crawford speakers Delta Kappa Gamma, Chi Chapter, November guest speakers were Deb Ferrier and Susie Steckel of Crawford. Ferrier shared information about the North Fork Ambulance Service, which is all-volunteer and covers about 1,500 square miles. Steckel, the current mayor of Crawford, spoke about local issues. Brunch and a business meeting concluded the morning. Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma includes women educators from Delta and Montrose counties. Delivering holiday cheer

With the help of the Delta Elks Lodge and its 11 O’Clock Riders, Santa will be delivering food boxes to 20 grateful families this year. Each box contains a turkey and all the fixings for a festive holiday meal. Pictured with Elks John Norman, Tom Rowan and Roger Bynum are Delta County Sheriff Fred McKee, Undersheriff Mark Taylor, victim’s advocate Barb Yant and Angela Mackey of Tri-County Resource Center (TCRC). Mackey was given three boxes to share with the victims of domestic violence served by TCRC.
