Historical society honors its volunteers

It takes a lot of volunteers to keep everything going at Surface Creek Valley Historical Society's Pioneer Town in Cedaredge.

Board members meet year-round to handle all issues pertaining to the society and the museum.

VFW demonstrates flag retirement for Scouts

On Sept. 29, Veterans of Foreign Wars Lee Marts Post 3571 and its Ladies Auxiliary hosted an educational flag retirement ceremony for area Boy Scouts. During the year, post and auxiliary members receive dozens of damaged flags from Delta area communities.

IOOF, Lions join forces to recycle eyeglasses

Delta IOOF Lodge recently donated over 500 pair of used eyeclasses to the Delta Lions Club.

Gale Conger organized collection of used glasses on behalf of the Delta Odd Fellows for nearly 20 years, and Tom Panter has worked many years with the Delta Lions Club vision program.

The photo shows three members of the Delta County muzzle loader team (left to right) Christa Baier, Lucas Baier and Evan Welt. They display the team’s Grand Champion ribbons for traditional muzzle loader, and Reserve Grand Champion ribbons for open class muzzle loader. Christa took second place in the State Fair individual senior division, and Evan took eighth place at the State Fair, both qualifying to be part of the Colorado muzzle loader team at the national competition next June. Christa also took fifth place in the State Fair .22 hunt rifle, and seventh place in the .22 sporter rifle shooting competitions.
