Couple celebrates 70 years of marriage

John and Kathleen Hawkins of Redlands Mesa invite friends and family to join them in celebration of their 70th wedding anniversary. They were married Nov. 4, 1942, in Berkeley, Calif., while John was serving in the U.S. Navy.

They settled on Redlands Mesa in 1949, breaking a farm out of sagebrush and building a home where they have lived to this day.

John and Kathleen raised three children, Dan of Redlands Mesa, Sharon MacKendrick of Grants, N.M., and Laura Donovan of Delta.

Please come to the open house style celebration on Sunday, Nov. 4, at the Stolte Shed, located at Pioneer Town in Cedaredge. Hours will be 2 to 5 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. No gifts, please, but cards and good wishes are appreciated.
