Judy and Earle Wise of Delta will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 6. They were married in the old chapel of the Delta United Methodist Church on Sept. 6, 1963.
Although they both attended junior and senior high schools in Delta, "We didn't run in the same circles," as Earle puts it. It wasn't until after Earle returned from the Navy in late summer of 1962 that they started dating. After they were married, they lived in Grand Junction while Earle attended Mesa, and Judy worked. After Earle graduated from Mesa, they moved to Gunnison so Earle could pursue his master's degree and Judy worked for Western State College. After graduation, Judy and Earle moved to Steamboat for Earle's first teaching job at the junior high. They moved back to Delta in 1969 to live on the Wise family farm where Earle grew up, and they've been there ever since.
Earle was a part of the Delta County School District for 30 years, both as a teacher and administrator; he retired in 1999. Judy and Earle have two boys, Jess Wise and wife Barbara of Montrose and Travers Wise, wife Darnell and daughter Emma of Delta.blog comments powered by Disqus
