Pastor Jason and Carmen Neely have returned home to Delta County to become the new pastors at Delta First Assembly of God. Pastor Jason was born and raised in Cedaredge until his high school years, when his father, Pastor Phil Neely, took a new position in Colorado Springs in the mid-'90s.
Pastor Jason has always loved the Western Slope and especially Delta County, and is thrilled to be "back home."
Pastor Jason and Carmen were the youth pastors at Rifle Assembly for four years, then they were youth pastors at Delta First Assembly from 2004-2006. Most recently they served as senior pastors in Salida for seven years. Pastor Jason is ordained with the Assemblies of God and has earned a master's degree in Bible and theology from Southwestern A/G University. He is working on his M.Div. degree. The Neelys' hobbies and interests include Jason's classic cars, reading books, weight lifting, ATV riding in the mountains and traveling the world. They have enjoyed trips to Israel and Rome, and are currently planning their next adventure. Carmen grew up in Africa as a missionary kid and she lived in Sierra Leone, South Africa and LeSotho. She has many stories of exotic foods and dangerous civil war situations, including her family losing all they had when their compound was overrun by rebels in the Sierra Leone war. The Neelys have two kids, Judah and Jenna, who are enjoying school here in Delta. Judah was born in Delta during the Neelys' tenure as youth pastors in 2006.
Shortly after arriving at DFA, Pastor Jason hired a new youth pastor to lead the Fire Proof youth ministry. Darby and Melissa Davis were both born and raised in Grand Junction and are thrilled to be in Delta ministering to the youth here. Pastor Darby studied at Wyo-Tech to be an auto body technician when he felt led to go into the ministry. Both received degrees from Central Bible College in Springfield, Mo., with an emphasis in missions. Pastor Darby will be leading DFA's missions trip to Mexico in March in an outreach to the Tarahumara Indians.
The Darbys have one daughter named Addison and they are passionate about the mission of God and about calling students to live life to its fullest.
When folks call the church office, a new voice will also be heard on the other end — Cindy Davis has returned to be the secretary at DFA. Cindy is a Delta High School grad and is thrilled to serve the people of DFA and the community of Delta again.blog comments powered by Disqus
