Pamela Sue Cole Harris of Grand Junction died Sept. 15, 2012, at La Villa Grande Care Center in Grand Junction after a lengthy illness. She was 61.
She was born in West Covina, Calif., to John and Laverne Derryberry. She lived many places as a child, including Las Vegas, Nev. In 1964 the family moved to Hotchkiss. She graduated from Hotchkiss High School in 1969. She married Rex Cole in 1974. They divorced in 2000. In 2002 she married Donald Harris. They divorced in 2010.
Mrs. Harris lived most of her adult life in Grand Junction, although she also lived in Carbondale, Ill., Denver, Kaw City, Okla., and Roswell, N.M. She attended Colorado State University after high school and earned a bachelor of arts degree in English from Mesa Sate College in 1992. She spent several years working for Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, as well as in marketing in the real estate and non- profit fields. She spent the last few years working as a freelance writer. She enjoyed drawing and painting in watercolors, reading and thrift store shopping. She was a member of the Grace Community Church in Roswell, N.M.
Mrs. Harris is survived by her parents, John and Laverne Derryberry of Roswell, N.M.; her sister, Sandra Herd and her husband Bailey of Clifton; her daughter, B. Erin Cole of Denver; and her nephews, Eric and Joe Herd of Grand Junction.
A graveside memorial service was held Sept. 21 at the Palisade Cemetery.
