Betty Volk

a08_volkBetty Louise Volk died Oct. 1, 2012, at Mesa Manor Nursing Home in Grand Junction. She was 87.

She was born Aug. 12, 1925, in Boulder to Daniel and Lulu (Berhman) Lynch. She attended school in Fort Collins. In 1948, she married Robert Casselberry in Fort Collins. They moved to Delta County in 1953. They managed the Figure 4 Ranch and the Cedaredge Locker Plant until Bob's death in 1978. She was a 4-H leader, businesswoman, school board member and a Grand Mesa Cowbelle. She was a wonderul cook and enjoyed shopping, especially for shoes.

She married Dick Carruthers in 1980 and they enjoyed traveling and spending every summer in Alaska until his death in 1992. She married George Volk in 1996 and enjoyed life back on the Figure 4 Ranch and the Volk Ranch near Somerset.

Mrs. Volk is survived by her husband, George Volk; sons, Mike Casselberry of Cedaredge, Pat Casselberry and his wife Sandy of Grand Junction; daughter, Kelley and her husband Ed Smith of Soldotna, Alaska; sister, Shirley Hammond; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

No services are planned. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
