Marjorie "Margie" Ann DeVault died Oct. 12, 2012, in Penrose. She was 81.
She was born on Jan. 6, 1931, to Truman and Georgia (Langford) Patrick in Lamar. The family moved to Las Animas in 1942, then to Buena Vista in 1945, moving back to Las Animas in 1947 where she graduated from high school in 1949.
Mrs. DeVault worked as a nurse's aide at the Salida and Las Animas hospitals, as a telephone operator, at Jolton's Department Store and at the mill where her father worked.
She married Harold "Dean" DeVault in Taos, N.M., in 1953. They lived in Colorado Springs and Buena Vista before moving to Delta in 1972.
Dean died in 2003 and Mrs. Devault moved to Florence in 2006.
She enjoyed the outdoors, music, drawing, painting, crocheting, embroidering, bowling, reading, traveling, arrowhead hunting, picnicking, fishing, camping and watching wildlife.
Mrs. DeVault is survived by three sisters, Bonnie Fowler and her husband Clarence, Peggy Wallace and her husband Gordon, and Sharon Yunikar and her husband Bill; two daughters, Deanne Simmons and her husband Roy of Delta, and Becky Wilde and her husband Glenn of Penrose; six grandchildren, Bryan Reed and his wife Shawna, Brenda Foster, BJ Simmons and his wife Katie, Katrina Simmons, Kevin Simmons and Michael Simmons; four great-grandchildren, Brianna Foster, Savannah Wilks, Alexis Comfort and Kailey Reed; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Gateway Community Chapel in Florence.
