David Head

a10 headCedaredge resident David Head died Dec. 5, 2012, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. He was 64.

A funeral service was Dec. 11 at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta. Burial followed at the Delta City Cemetery.

David Leroy Head was born to Theodore and Wilma (Decker) Head on Nov. 6, 1948, in Montrose. He spent his childhood in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Ouray. He attended schools both in Ouray and Bonanza, Utah. After graduating high school, he served with the U.S. Army.


On Oct. 22, 1976, he married Norma Rae Cain in Montrose. They moved to Cedaredge in 1981. The couple celebrated 36 years of marriage this year.

Mr. Head, a retired MSHA inspector, enjoyed being a husband, father and grandfather and spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, camping and horseback riding.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Rae Head of Cedaredge; his father, Ted Head of Montrose; a son, DJ Head and his wife Jennifer of Cedaredge; two daughters, Sandra Wilson and her husband Brett of Hotchkiss, and Cherie Spangler and her husband Greg of Texas; three sisters, Kathy Reed and her husband Donnie of Eckert, Kristina Miller and her husband Dale of Pagosa Springs, and Vicki Hecht and her husband Timothy of Montrose; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Head; and his brother, Danny Head.

Memorial contributions may be made to Spirit Wind Horse Rescue in Crawford.

Arrangements were handled by Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
