Robert Thompson

a10 thompsonRobert G. Thompson died Dec. 5, 2012, at his home in Crawford. He was 77.

He was born Oct. 2, 1935, to Carolyn (Schiffmann) and Arthur Thompson of Grand Lake.

Mr. Thompson graduated from Colorado State University with a bachelor's degree in zoology. He spent most of his career managing federal fish hatcheries in Leadville, Jones Hole, Utah, and Kalispell, Mont., among other places.

He married Carolyn (Burnham Clements) in 1972. They retired in 1995 and returned to Colorado, eventually settling in Crawford.

He enjoyed skiing, hiking, hunting, target shooting, camping, was an avid reader and was always politically informed. He served on the Crawford Town Council. He and Carolyn were active members of the Crawford United Methodist Church until recently moving to Delta.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his sons Patrick Clements of Johnstown, and Paul Clements of Edwards; his daughter, Annie Eckman of Colorado Springs; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Richard Clements.

Services will be held Thursday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Crawford.

Contributions may be given to needy children in Delta County.
