Lu Mackenroth

a08 mackenrothLuella "Lu" Bertha Weiss Mackenroth died Dec. 5, 2012, in Roseville, California. She was 73.

Luella was born Oct. 2, 1939, in Cherokee, Iowa, to Frederick "Bill" and Anna Weiss. Not long after her birth, Luella's parents moved to western Colorado where they established a successful farm and ranch.

After high school, Luella took a job as a stewardess with Frontier Airlines, where she met and married Capt. Jared Mackenroth and moved to Boulder.

After raising her children, Mrs. Mackenroth earned a bachelor of science degree and became a registered nurse, working in the healthcare industry in both Colorado and California. She retired in the Northern California area, near her children.

She enjoyed being a wife and mother. She led an energetic lifestyle, learning to ride the occasional motorcycle or snowmobile and studying English literature in her spare time.

Mrs. Mackenroth is survived by two sons, Noah of Newcastle, Calif., and Joshua, of San Diego, Calif.; and three granddaughters, Beata, Henia and Renata.
