Roy Blevins December 26, 2012

a08 blevinsRoy Wayne Blevins of Delta died Dec. 15, 2012, at Aurora-Denver Medical Center following a brief illness. He was 89.

Funeral services were held Dec. 22 at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta. Burial followed at the Delta City Cemetery.

Mr. Blevins was born March 21, 1923, in Lay, Moffat County, to Thomas and Ethel (Gadd) Blevins. After the death of his father in 1934, he lived with his sister Luella Crosthwaite and her husband Chuck in Craig. He graduated from Moffat County High School in 1941.

During World War II he served as a signalman in the Navy Armed Guard in the Pacific Theater.

He married Juanita Perfect on Jan. 3, 1947.

Mr. Blevins worked for many years in the oil fields in Colorado and Wyoming. He retired in 1980 and moved with Juanita to Delta in 1981. He worked at Towsley Lock and Key for many years.

He enjoyed maintaining his house and yard, helping his friends and neighbors when they needed it, spending time with family, reading books, and watching football and his favorite westerns on television.

Mr. Blevins is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years, Juanita Blevins; one son, Terry Blevins and wife Dee Ann of Hugo; five grandchildren, Karina Low of Parker, Lani Blevins and Benjamin Blevins, both of Hugo, and Ginger Grauberger and Cortney Grauberger, both of Omaha, Neb.; two great-grandchildren, Sidney Gotto of Centennial and Jordan Low of Parker; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 11 siblings, Alfred, Thomas, Bruce, Bob, Nathan, Lucille, Laura, Luella, Clara, Grace and Beverly.
