North Fork Valley resident Roy C. Brewer died Dec. 15, 2012, at Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction. He was 49.
A memorial service was held Dec. 22 at the Mountain View Bible Church in Lazear with Pastor Jim Jesser officiating.
Roy Charles Brewer was born to Mark and Rebecca (Sipes) Brewer Aug. 30, 1963, in Ocean-side, Calif. He spent his childhood in California and Utah, attending schools in Spanish Fork and Price, Utah.
On Jan 3, 2005, he married Laurie Townsend in Delta. They celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary this year.
Mr. Brewer worked at Oxbow Coal Mine where he served as co-captain of mine rescue. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. He was baptized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by his wife, Laurie Brewer of Hotchkiss; his father, Mark Brewer and wife GayLynn of Delta; his grandmother, Marie Brewer of Delta; seven sons, Adam of Price, Utah, Brett and wife Kortnee of Helper, Utah, Roy and wife Tiffany of Rock Springs, Wyo., Jim of Moab, Utah, Garrett of Gunnison, Landon of Gunnison, and Kacee of Hotchkiss; five stepchildren, Colt Freeman Jr. of Hotchkiss, Nicole Hankins and husband Jake of Hotchkiss, Kim Miller and husband Charles of Hotchkiss, Jamie Freeman of Montrose, and Jessi Baker of Grand Junction; four brothers, Ron Brewer and fiancé Gwyn of Price, Utah, David Brewer and wife Brittany of Spring Glenn, Utah, Robert Brewer and wife Sarah of Texas, and Justin Brewer of Salt Lake City, Utah; one sister, Ginger Record and husband Alan of West Valley, Utah; 17 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca Brewer; one brother, Scotty Brewer; and three of his four grandparents.
