Edgar Taylor Jr.

a07 taylorEdgar Taylor Jr. died Jan. 1, 2013, at his home in Delta. He was 88.

A memorial service was held Jan. 8 at the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Delta. Inurnment followed at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in Grand Junction.

Edgar Wayne Taylor Jr. was born to Edgar and Velma (Williams) Taylor June 10, 1924, in Rexford, Kan. He spent his childhood and attended schools in Kansas.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.


On July 15, 1978, he married Fronia Mae Davis in Overland, Kan. The couple lived in several areas including Moses Lake, Wash., Kalispell, Mont., and Delta. They celebrated 34 years of marriage this year.

Mr. Taylor owned and operated a dry cleaning business in Moses Lake, Wash. When he was younger he enjoyed coaching Little League and Pony League baseball teams. He played on a semi-pro baseball team in Kansas for seven years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Fronia Taylor of Delta; two sons, Ron Taylor of Fort Collins and Don Taylor of Maryland; four daughters, Gail Hargraves and Tara Taylor, both of Buckley, Wash., Samantha Dobert of Hudson, N.Y., and Niki Orando of Silverdale, Wash.; two step-children, Yvonne Russell of Las Lunas, N.M., and Ron Davis of Moses Lake, Wash.; one sister, Eileen Grose of Overland, Kan.; six grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Francis and Kenneth Taylor; and one sister, Zelma Woodard.
