Paonia resident Ida Rose Cruse died Dec. 31, 2012, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. She was 80.
A rosary was held Jan. 4 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Hotchkiss. A mass of Christian burial was held Jan. 5, with Father Ernest presiding. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery in Hotchkiss.
Ida Rose Holvoet was born to Joseph and Elizabeth (Verraest) Holvoet on May 25, 1932, in Hotchkiss. She spent her childhood and attended school in Hotchkiss. After graduation she attended Western State College in Gunnison.
On Feb. 4, 1954, she married William "Boyd" Cruse in Delta. They celebrated 54 years of marriage before Boyd died in 2008.
Mrs. Cruse was a member of the Catholic Church and the Cottonwood Club. She enjoyed being a wife and mother, watching the Rockies and Broncos play, quilting, crafts and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by one son, Richard Cruse and his wife Debbie of Wellington; two daughters, Carol Childs and her husband Bob of Paonia, and Barbara Gehl and her husband Russ of Toponas; two brothers, Charlie Holvoet and his wife Jennie of Wichita, Kan., and Joe Holvoet and his wife Janice of Hotchkiss; one sister, Elizabeth Kuta of Delta; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Mary Ann Brown; and two brothers, Henry Holvoet and John Holvoet.
