Kenneth Hamon Sr

a10 hamonKenneth Hamon Sr. died Jan. 10, 2013, in Grand Junction. He was 85.

He was born Dec. 6, 1927, in Bristow, Okla., to Claude and Lieueda "Belle" (Buie) Hamon. He spent much of his childhood in Delta and attended Delta High School.

Mr. Hamon served in the U.S. Army during the end of World War II.

He married Dorothy Davis Jan. 12, 1948, in Ouray. They moved to Grand Junction in 1958. They were married 59 years.

Mr. Hamon was a sales representative in the textile industry and owned and operated Hamon Upholstery.

He enjoyed horses, photography, camping, fishing, skiing, boating, anything with a motor, being a husband, father and grandfather, telling stories and sharing laughter. After a stroke, he took up bicycling.

He is survived by his children, Ken Hamon and spouse Cathy of Lone Tree, Stan Hamon and spouse Pam, Sharon Reschke and spouse Larry of Eckert, and Wess Hamon; nine grandchildren, Morgan Hamon and spouse Kelly of Highlands Ranch, Lisa Harmon and spouse Jack of Austin, Texas, Clark Hamon and spouse Carrie of Gilbert, Ariz., Phillip Reschke and spouse Elvira of Boulder, Andrea Morales and spouse Rich of San Diego, Calif., Audrey Hamon and Larry LeFebre, Courtney Phillips and spouse Conrad, Laurie Hamon, and A.J. Hamon; two stepgrandchildren, Lisa Reeves and Jeremy Reeves; eight great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren, and a sister, Felicia Renfrow of Florida.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 31, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, 2515 Patterson Road, Grand Junction, with a reception following at Garfield's Restaurant.
