Austin resident Clyde H. Wright died March 18, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction. He was 88.
A funeral service was held March 22 at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta. Interment followed at Mesa View Cemetery in Delta.
Clyde Henry Wright was born Sept. 15, 1924, to Henry and Izora (Harrington) Wright in Delta. His family moved to Texas when he was a small child, then returned to the Pea Green area when he was in sixth grade.
He married Helen Tilley Dec. 11, 1946, in Olathe.
Mr. Wright served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1941 until retirement in 1966. Four of those years he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He enjoyed fishing, camping and woodworking.
Mr. Wright is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen Wright of Austin; three sons, Larry Wright and wife Suzanne of Columbia, S.C., Michael Wright and wife Debbie of Castle Rock, and Kenneth Wright and wife Susan of Parker; one brother, Wallace Wright and wife Earlene of Pea Green; one sister, Doyle Fergeson of Montrose; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Clyde Wright.
