Delta resident George Hatton died March 19, 2013, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. He was 78.
Funeral services were held March 26 at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta. Interment followed at Mesa View Cemetery.
George Edward Hatton was born in Johnson, Kan., May 25, 1934, to George and Edna (Dorwin) Hatton. He grew up in Johnson and graduated from Johnson High School in 1952. He lived in Delta since moving from Commerce City in 1972.
He married Beatrice "Bea" (Rigdon) Sanders Feb. 9, 1974, in Montrose.
Mr. Hatton worked at Jim's Outback. He was a member of the American Bowling Conference and the Woodworkers Guild, and was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge.
He enjoyed his family, woodworking, bowling and flying.
He is survived by his wife, Bea Hatton of Delta; sons, Mark Hatton of Delta, Terry Hatton and Dennis Hatton of Hutchinson, Kan., Burrall Sanders and wife Joyce of Falcon, Jess Sanders and wife Devona, Dan Sanders and wife Debbie, and Hal Sanders and wife Kim, all of Delta, Wes Sanders and wife Martina of Wilton, Calif., Chad Sanders and wife Bobbie of Colorado Springs; daughters, Deb Kraai and husband Charlie of Delta, and Dorie Charlesworth and husband Darrell of Grand Junction; brother, Bill Hatton and wife Judy of Hutchinson, Kan.; four sisters, Annie Markano and husband Chuck of Wichita, Kan., Gaye Newton of Hutchinson, Kan., Leaura Plummer of Johnson, Kan., and Lee Bjerky of Viroqua, Wis.; 45 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
