Former Delta resident Orvis Bowers died March 27, 2013, at Beaver Valley Hospital in Beaver, Utah.
Mr. Bowers was born May 7, 1925, in Delta.
He graduated from Delta High School and served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1943 to 1946. In 1951 he graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a bachelor's degree.
He married Ruby Crum in Denver. They lived in Denver, Sandy, Utah, Colorado Springs and Tucson, Ariz., before settling in Beaver, Utah, in 1983. They purchased and restored the Edward Bird House and had it posted in the Utah historical registry in 1984.
Mr. Bowers was active in his community. He served as chairman of the Democractic Party of Beaver County and volunteered at the Beaver Senior Center. He enjoyed shooting pool with friends.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Bowers; two daughters, Rhonda Cowley and husband Gary, and Cheryl Green and husband Marlin; a son, Kevin Bowers and wife Lyn; a sister, Shirley Myers; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Bowers was preceded in death by his brothers, Harvey and Wayne; and his sisters, Bea Lofink and Louise Harris.
