Longtime Del Norte resident Everett B. Briggs, 66, died March 17, 2013, in Alamosa at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center. He was 66.
He was born in Delta Dec. 11, 1946, to Willard and Helen (Reeder) Briggs.
Mr. Briggs was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving two tours in the Vietnam War. He was a recipient of the National Defense Service medal, a star medal, two Purple Heart medals, a Rifle Marksmanship Badge and a Good Conduct medal. He was also a boxer while in the Marines.
He was a longtime truck driver. He enjoyed being a husband, father and grandfather, the mountains, horses, the outdoors, dancing, sports and going to car races.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Annabell of Del Norte; daughter, Donna Jean Manzanares and husband Mike; four grandchildren, Savannah, Dante, Bethanie and Chloe; four sisters, Becky Datson, Sue Koch and husband Roy, Anna Gannon and husband Mike, and Katie Briggs; three brothers, Dale Briggs, John Briggs and wife Sheila, and Bill Briggs; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Helen Briggs.
