Gerald "Jerry" Kaiser died from cancer April 5, 2013, at his home in Delta. He was 71.
Gerald Allen Kaiser was born in Berthoud Sept. 25, 1941, to Carl and Alma Kaiser. He grew up on the family farm near Loveland. After graduating from Loveland High School in 1959, he attended National Electronics School in Denver.
He married Donna Salling in Denver Jan. 1, 1961. They celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Mr. Kaiser worked for Dow Chemical Company at the Rocky Flats Plant for 13 years. The family moved to Delta in 1976 where he logged for Ron Hintz near Gunnison and worked for Holly Sugar, Hawks Nest Mine and Skyland Foods. He retired from Coors Tec Porcelain in Grand Junction in 2003.
He enjoyed fishing, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, watching birds at the backyard feeder, western movies and spending time with family and friends.
Mr. Kaiser is survived by his wife, Donna Kaiser; a daughter, Julie Maxey and husband Steve of Littleton; a son, Clint Kaiser of Delta; two granddaughters, Danielle and Jessi Maxey; a grandson, Preston Reed; brothers-in-law, Rex and wife Kim, and Andy Flageolle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Carol and his sister-in-law, Marla Flageolle.
A memorial service was held April 12 at the Center for Spiritual Living in Delta.
