Trilby Hawks died April 9, 2013, at her home in Montrose. She was 96.
Trilby Hawks was born in Delta Sept. 25, 1916, to Frank and Susie (Karp) Mays. She spent her childhood and graduated from high school in Fruita.
She married John Hawks in Montrose. He preceded her in death in 1998. She was previously married to Bert Clark.
Mrs. Hawks lived in Delta before moving to Montrose. She worked as a bookkeeper and as an egg candler at City Market in Delta.
She enjoyed sewing, animals and wildlife, being outdoors and on the ranch at Kinikin Heights, spending time with family and children, playing Yahtzee with her grandchildren and tending her rose garden.
Mrs. Hawks is survived by her son, Gilbert Clark and wife Jeanne of St. George, Utah; daughters, Barbara Markley and husband Gene of Olathe, and Acquilla Gresham of Eagle; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and stepchildren, Delbert Hawks and wife Janie of Montrose, John Hawks and wife Debbie, and Patsy Denham and husband Lanny, all of Olathe, Peggy Williams and husband Gary, Levi Hawks, and David Hawks.
She was preceded in death by two brothers; one sister; one son, Larry; and one grandson, Clarence.
A funeral service was held April 13 at Crippin Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Paul Nystrom officiating. Interment followed at Grand View Cemetery west of Montrose.
