Delta resident Rev. Jeffrey Ryan died April 18, 2013, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. He was 41.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 24, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Delta with Pastors Ed Schmidt and Gary Buss officiating.
Jeffrey Christopher Ryan was born in Bowling Green, Ohio, Jan. 8, 1972. He spent his childhood in the Littleton and Englewood areas. He graduated from Littleton High School, Concordia College in Seward, Neb., and theological seminary in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1991-1999.
On July 4, 1991, he married Lauren Rose in Boulder. They celebrated 21 years of marriage.
The Ryans lived in Fort Wayne, Ind., before moving to Delta when he was ordained and installed as the pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church July 7, 2002.
Rev. Ryan enjoyed participating with the children's activities including the church's live nativity scene and the drama-theater club, entertaining with magic tricks, playing XBox and computer games, and spending time at Lake Powell where he planned to take his children for the first time this summer.
He was a member of the American Legion and the Littleton Singers. He helped start the meth task force in Delta.
Rev. Ryan is survived by his wife, Lauren and his three children, Ethan, Brienna and Joshua, all of Delta; his mother, Darlene Schenk of Englewood; his father-in-law, David Newton and wife Cheryl of Centennial; special friends, Richard and Monica Von Steinman of Westcliffe; and three godchildren, Katie, Mikayla and Ali Von Steinman.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother-in-law, Alan Newton.
