Lifetime Delta resident Minnie Abeyta died April 25, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction. She was 82.
A Mass of Christian burial was held April 30 at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Canice Enyiaka officiating. Burial followed at Mesa View Cemetery in Delta.
Minnie Armendariz was born in Delta April 25, 1931, to David and Guadalupe (Banuelos) Armendariz. She spent her childhood and attended school in Delta.
On June 8, 1957, she married Joe Abeyta in Delta. They celebrated 57 years of marriage before Joe died Aug. 9, 2012.
Mrs. Abeyta worked at Skyland Foods in Delta. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. She enjoyed being a wife and mother, spending time with her family and her dog, Jill, watching television, Spanish music, cooking and doing embroidery work.
She is survived by her sons, Joe Abeyta Jr. and wife Karen of Clearwater, Fla., Richard Abeyta, Michael Abeyta and wife Sandy, and Albert Abeyta and wife Michelle, all of Delta; her daughters, Carol Trujillo and husband Rupert and Marie Walker all of Delta; her brothers, Phillip Ar-mendariz and wife Judy of Pensacola, Fla., Hilario Armendariz and wife Commadina, Victor Armendariz and wife Theresa, all of Montrose, Angel Armendariz and wife Lita and Manuel Armendariz and wife Barbara, all of Delta; her sisters, Virginia Valdez and husband Frank, Margie Abeyta and husband Lupe, and Ermalinda Moralez and husband Joe, all of Delta; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe; a grandson, David Abeyta; a brother, Steve Armendariz; and her infant siblings, Juliun, Hilda, Joe and Micki.
