Montrose resident Frances Frye died April 30, 2013, at Montrose Memorial Hospital. She was 86.
Frances Jane Tilley was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, June 27, 1926, to O.D. and Maud (Pomeroy) Tilley. She spent her childhood and attended school in Kimberly, Idaho. She attended the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho.
On Aug. 2, 1986, she married George Frye in Grand Junction. They later divorced.
Mrs. Frye was a member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the Montrose Hospital Auxiliary and had been a member of Eastern Star and the 500-mile walkers.
She is survived by her son, Michael Rumsey and wife Susan of Richardson, Texas; daughters, Mary Nelson and husband Richard of Montrose, Billie Ruble and husband Bill of Delta, Aldeen "Dee" Peterson and husband Bill of Cheyenne, Wyo. and Janice Stout of Norwood; a brother, Norman Tilley and wife Gennett of Twin Falls, Idaho; a brother-in-law, Tom Rumsey and wife Joan of St. Charles, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters.
A memorial service was held May 4 at the United Methodist Church in Montrose with Rev. Steve Reinhard officiating. Cremation preceded the service.
