Jack Eldon Ames died Saturday, June 1, 2013, at his home in Delta. He was 84.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mr. Ames was born to Marion and Beulah (Nickels) Ames on Jan. 26, 1929, in Weatherford, Okla. He spent his early childhood in Sinbad Valley. His family later moved to Elk City, Okla.
Following his high school graduation, Mr. Ames married Waneta Cain in Elk City. They lived in Delta over 23 years, coming from Colorado Springs.
Mr. Ames was a retired deputy sheriff and property manager. He enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes, raising goats when he was younger, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Delta Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Waneta Ames of Delta; one son, Lee Ames of Meadow Lakes, Alaska; a daughter, Judy Bradford of Anchorage, Alaska; five grandchildren, Tracy LeBlanc, Don Bradford III, Tanya Williams, Brian Dopps and Sasha Parks; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dan Ames; a daughter, Mary Beth Palyash; and two brothers, Irvin and Bob Ames.
