Hotchkiss resident Joyce Coleman died May 31, 2013, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. She was 99.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 5, at Danny Cotten's residence, 30490 Highway 92, Hotchkiss. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Hotchkiss.
Joyce Alice Peterson was born in Denver Feb. 26, 1914, to Carl and Anna Marie (Nystom) Peterson. She spent her childhood and attended public schools in Denver, graduating from Englewood High School in 1932.
On March 31, 1934, she married Elmer Coleman in Colorado Springs. They celebrated 51 years of marriage before Elmer died Aug 18, 1985.
Mrs. Coleman enjoyed being a wife, mother and grandmother, crocheting, reading, gardening and cooking.
She is survived by two sons, Raymond Coleman and wife Nancy of Sun City, Ariz., and Richard Coleman and wife Joanna of Strasburg; one daughter, Corinne Allen of Rocky Ford; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; two sons, Donald and Daryl Coleman; a granddaughter, Darylyn Coleman; and a brother, Edwin Peterson.
