Delta County resident Lorraine Anderson died May 16, 2013, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. She was 86.
At her request, no services will be held.
Lorraine E. Fouche was born in Osceola, Iowa, Jan. 21, 1927, to Joseph and Nellie (Hessellton) Fouche.
She was an honor art student throughout school, receiving a two-year scholarship at Art Instruction Inc., in Minneapolis, Minn., and later attending Orange Coast College.
After moving to California in 1950 she married Jim Anderson. They moved to Grand Junction in 1989. Mr. Anderson died in 1992.
Mrs. Anderson was a buyer for an aircraft company for several years, retiring in 1978 to work on her paintings. She was a member of the Anaheim Art Association and the Garden Grove Art Guild. She received many awards, including "Artist of the Year."
She enjoyed traveling the world, studying other cultures and painting animals and landscapes in oils.
She is survived by her son, Michael Anderson of Cedaredge; a brother, Harold Fouche of Pen Valley, Calif.; four grandchildren, Chad DeAngelo of Montrose, Amy DeAngelo-Hines of Port Orchard, Wash., Sarah Stroup and Adam Anderson, both of Cedaredge; and two great-grandchildren, Carina Sherborne and Cameron Hines of Port Orchard, Wash.
