Virginia Browning died June 6, 2013, at her home in Hotchkiss after a lengthy illness. She was 87.
Funeral services were held June 8 at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta with Rev. Jane Dupree officiating. Entombment is at Crown Hill Cemetery Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Phase IV, in Wheat Ridge.
Virginia Mae Evans was born in Denver June 18, 1925, to Clarence and Jane (Wallace) Evans. Her schooling was in Denver.
She joined the Women's Army Corps in 1944 during World War II.
She married Joseph Novak Jr. in 1945 and Clyde Browning in 1951. Both marriages ended in divorce.
Mrs. Browning lived in Hotchkiss after moving from Lakewood in 1986. She retired from Keebler in Denver after 35 years of employment.
She enjoyed animals, dogs, watching birds and fishing.
Mrs. Browning is survived by her daughters, Karen Browning and Kathy Browning, both of Hotchkiss; a sister-in-law, Fusae Evans of Hotchkiss; four grandchildren, JoAnn Little and husband Drew of Spring Creek, Nev., Jodie Sue Boen and husband Kelly of Henderson, Jennifer Aragon and husband Joel of Brighton and Jolene Novak of Denver; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph R. Novak III, and a brother, Richard Evans.
