Delta County Resident Lawrence Blanchard died June 6, 2013, at Delta County Memorial hospital. He was 80.
A graveside funeral service was held June 11 at Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in Grand Junction.
Lawrence Leroy Gymiski was born in Superior March 20, 1933, to Lawrence and Marie (Blanchard) Gymiski. He later legally changed his name to Lawrence Blanchard.
He spent his childhood in Superior, graduating from Louisville High School. He joined the U.S. Navy and served four years. While in the Navy, he learned the electrician trade.
Mr. Blanchard lived in Denver until moving to Eckert six years ago. He was Catholic. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and caring for small animals and birds.
He is survived by one son, Mark Gymiski and wife Cheryl of Brockton, Mass.; a sister, Shirley Graham and husband Richard of Grand Junction; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori An Blanchard.
Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory handled the arrangements.
