Former Delta resident Marjorie P. Nelson died May 30, 2013, in Cañon City.
She lived in the Delta area for 15 years.
She was born in Central City Feb. 1, 1919, to John and Laura (Jordan) Penaluna.
In September 1965 she married Herman Nelson in Golden. He died in December 1995.
Mrs. Nelson owned and operated a restaurant in Golden for many years. She was a member of the Rebekahs, the '8 and 40' (VFW) and Easter Star.
She is survived by her children, John Agate of Fredericksburg, Va., Marcelle Habibion of Brooklyn, N.Y., Margaret Mortenson of Lakewood, and Marjorie "Jeanie" Holzwarth of Pueblo; a stepdaughter, Mary Durggras of Troy, Mont.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchilren; two great-great-grandchildren; and five nieces.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 18, at the IOOF Hall in Fort Lupton. Mrs. Nelson's ashes will be inurned with her husband at Fort Logan National Cemetery in a private ceremony.
