Edward Daniel Lockhart died June 26, 2013, at his home in Delta. He was 95.
No services will be held at this time.
Mr. Lockhart was born in Delta Aug. 2, 1917, to Ray and Bess Lockhart. He grew up in Delta and graduated from Delta High School. He attended Western State College in Gunnison.
He married Lela (Jo) Maher June 24, 1941. They celebrated 72 years of marriage this year.
They lived in Delta County where Mr. Lockhart ranched and worked as a cowboy for several years. He went to work for the U.S. Forest Service in 1961. He retired after 22 years to his home in Delta, where he returned to the cowboy life for more than 20 years.
Mr. Lockhart was a member of the BPOE Elks Lodge where, in 2011, he was recognized for being the oldest living member.
He appreciated people and his family, and he enjoyed animals.
He is survived by his wife, Lela (Jo) Lockhart; three children, Dale Lockhart of Grand Junction, Mary Lockhart-Moschette of Edmond, Okla., and Margaret Ann Mauzy of Delta; several nephews and nieces; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
