Lillian Hatton died July 2, 2013, at Willow Tree Care Center in Delta. She was 89.
Lillian May Sheckler was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., July 12, 1923, to Fred and Anna Sheckler. She moved with her family to homestead in Monticello, Utah, during the Depression.
She joined the U.S. Army but was discharged because she was too young. She later joined the U.S. Navy and was sworn in alongside her father. She served from 1943-1946, stationed in San Francisco, Calif.
In February 1947 she married Jack Hatton in Rifle.
Mrs. Hatton enjoyed antiques, searching for arrowheads, doing things for others and going to yard sales.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Hatton of Paonia; a son, Jeffrey Hatton of Paonia; a daughter, Frances of Portland, Ore.; her grandchildren, Jack and Jody of Longmont; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Richard; her brothers, Glenn and John; and her sisters, Catherine and June.
Funeral services and interment will be at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Grand Junction.
