Wilma Reedy died July 31, 2013, at Paonia Care Center. She was 89.
Wilma Mae Weller was born in Westcliffe Sept. 6, 1923, to Robert and Myrtle (Claflin) Weller. She grew up in the La Junta area. She worked at Safeway and a dry cleaners and helped on the family farm.
She married Gene Reedy July 5, 1944. They moved to the Palisade area then to Paonia where they purchased the Mobil Service Station, renaming it Reedy's Service Station. She worked with Gene at the station for 60 years.
Mrs. Reedy was a member of Paonia Christian Fellowship, Eastern Star, Emblem Club, Paonia Rod & Gun Club, Red Feather Bowman Archery Club and North Fork Horse Patrol. She taught hunter safety. She enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, bingo, volleyball, coaching and playing softball, oil painting, drawing, reading and riding horses. She attended all the sporting events, plays, gymnastic meets, twirling contests, band concerts and other activities her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were involved in.
Mrs. Reedy is survived by her husband of 69 years, Gene; her children, Carol Ann Pavlisick and husband Marvin, Karen Weldon and husband John, and Bob Reedy and wife Donna, all of Paonia; grandchildren, Lisa McPherson and husband Adam of Glenwood Springs, Tamara Shaver and husband Brian of Grand Junction, Mike Reedy and wife Audrey, Vicki Thorn and husband Bill, all of Paonia, and Kelly Lee and husband Seth of Denver; step-grandson, Jason Elliott of Breckenridge; great-grandchildren, Jake, Alex, Kelton, Nolan, Delaney and Tynan McPherson, Branden and Derek Shaver, Abby, Emily and Beckham Reedy, and Noah Gallardo; three sisters, Betty Kendall and husband Dean, Rose Failing and Carol Simpson; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Reedy of Chanute, Kan.; a brother-in-law, LeLand Reedy and wife LaDonna of Neodesha, Kan.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Harrison and Raymond Weller; and a sister, Marjorie Farmer.
Memorial contributions may be made to Paonia Christian Fellowship, North Fork Ambulance Association, or the charity of one's choice.
Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
