Longtime Delta resident Darrel Watson died at his home Aug. 13, 2013. He was 82.
A memorial service was held Aug. 17 at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta.
Darrel G. Watson was born in Upton, Wyo., April 7, 1931, to Glen and Reta (Cool) Watson. He spent his early childhood in New Castle, Wyo., and graduated from Cedaredge High School in 1948.
He served with the U.S. Coast Guard in Baltimore, Md.
On March 18, 1951, he marrid Wilma Holder in Eckert. They moved to Delta in 1957. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary this year.
Mr. Watson was a retired steel worker. He enjoyed traveling, watching sports and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Delta Presbyterian Church, Delta Elks Lodge and Jaycees.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Watson of Delta; his sons, Mike Watson of Linden, Calif., Curt Watson and wife Jo of Austin, and David Watson and wife Ronda of Delta; his brother, Dean Watson and wife Darlene of Riverton, Wyo.; eight grandchildren, Brandee (Mike) Ballou, Daniel (Brandon) Garner, Derek Watson, Garret (Hayley) Watson, Todd Watson, Travis Watson, Tyler Watson and Austin Watson; and one great-grandchild, Alayna Watson.
