Hotchkiss resident Robert Bargsten died Aug. 12, 2013, at Veterans Administration Medical Center Nursing Home in Grand Junction, following a lengthy illness. He was 65.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Riverside Cemetery in Hotchkiss.
Mr. Bargsten was born in Willits, Calif., Feb. 5, 1948, to Charles Anderson and Beverly Bergsen. He spent his childhood and attended schools in Northern California. He attended Fresno State College.
Mr. Bargsten was a retired topographical surveyor. He enjoyed four-wheeling, sailing, flying, spending time outdoors and working on his equipment. He was a member of VFW and American Legion.
He is survived by three sisters, Betty Houseweart and husband Bill of Hotchkiss, Rena Bargsten of Mt. Vernon, Ore., and Virginia Crews and husband Gordon of Highlands Ranch; one nephew; and four nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to Veterans Administration, to American Heart Association, or to American Cancer Society.
