Barbara "Mema" Harper of Delta died Aug. 31, 2013, at Heavens View Apartments in Delta. She was 75.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 6, at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Paonia.
Barbara Earleyne Burns was born in Larned, Kan., May 11, 1938, to Robert and Mabel (Hinderliter) Burns. She attended Kinsely High School in Kinsely, Kan.
She married Donald Harper on Feb. 2, 1955.
She moved to Wichita, Kan., in early 1960 where she worked in the aircraft industry and was a seamstress and clothing designer. She was involved in the manufacture of astronaut uniforms for space travel.
Mrs. Harper is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Manolis of New Castle, Pa.; her son, Donald Harper and wife Cathy of Delta; her brothers, Claude Burns and wife Barbara, Ray Burns and wife Pam, all of Hooker, Okla.; a sister, Ruby McKinley of Longdale, Okla.; her grandchildren, Travis Gleeson, and Chrissy Laurneza and husband Marco Sr., all of New Castle, Pa.; Jamie Kershner and wife Daphne, Jason Nistas and wife Morgan, Richard Harper and wife Amy, Tori Harper, and Erik Harper, all of Wichita, Kan.; and Joshua and Nevaeh Harper of Delta; and her great-grandchildren, Alex and Marco Jr. Laurneza, Kayla and Dalton Gleeson, Gabby and Logan Harper, Skyler Harper, Brayden Harper, Jacob Kershner, and Madison, Makayla, Jacen and Mykenzie Nistas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; two sons, Robert and Richard; and three brothers, Robert, Ronnie and Earl Burns.
