Betty Jane Snapp went to be with the Lord and her loved ones on Sept. 30, 2013. She was 82 years old.
Betty was a resident at Paonia Care Center where she passed away of natural causes.
Betty was born in Fairwell, Mich., on Oct. 8, 1930. She had three brothers and three sisters. Betty enjoyed life as a young child living in Michigan and often told stories of her experiences living in the "Upper Peninsula" where the winters were so harsh. Betty was 13 years old when her family moved to Craig.
In 1946 she married Dale Carlson. Dale Carlson had just returned from his Air Force duty serving over Germany in World War II. Their union produced a daughter, Billie Dale Kiger (Jim), a son, Garold Gene Carlson (Mary) and second daughter, Janie Fern Echols (Roy). They had many happy years together before going their separate ways.
In 1979, Betty married her "soul mate," a very special man named Charles B. Snapp. "Snapp" adored the four children Betty brought into the marriage: Renneé Schaefer, Moneé Farkosoky (Eric), Marc Schaefer (Kathy) and Michelle Tindall (Richard). Snapp was so proud of all his kids and loved us all very much. Betty and Snapp spent nearly 35 happy years together.
Betty loved to cook, especially baking pies — they were the best. She also loved to crochet, sew, go fishin', read and ceramics. Betty especially adored just spending time with her family.
Betty had a wonderful and positive attitude and will always be remembered for her sweet smile full of the biggest dimples around!
Betty is preceded in death by her husbands, Dale and Charles; her parents, Janie and Merle Rogers; her brothers, Bill, Claude and Merle; her sisters, Juanita, Ramona and Ruby; her granddaughter, Kimberly Dawn; and her grandson, Andrew Devon.
Betty has 21 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, any memorial donations may be made to HopeWest Hospice in Delta.
Betty was cremated with her ashes to be spread in the special Colorado mountains she so dearly loved. A gravesite memorial service was held near her beloved Snapp in Borger, Texas, Oct. 5, 2013.
