Delta resident Marjorie Wear died Oct. 15, 2013, at Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction. She was 81.
Funeral services were held Oct. 19 at First Baptist Church in Delta with Pastor James Conley officiating. Interment followed at Delta City Cemetery.
Marjorie Kay Newton was born in Delta March 16, 1932, to Wallace and Lula (Crawley) Newton. She spent her childhood in Delta, graduating from Delta High School in 1950.
On Dec. 17, 1950, she married Wayne Wear in Eckert. They lived in Delta, except while Wayne served in the U.S. Army.
Mrs. Wear was a member of First Baptist Church in Delta.
She was a stock car driver in the late 1970s. In her early years she enjoyed camping and fishing. She enjoyed sewing, growing African violets, serving and helping others, and being a Christian wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Gary (Dorothy) Wear and Lori (Darren) Warren, all of Delta and Karen (Jonathan) Felts of Richardson, Texas; sister, Dorothy Hoke of Grand Junction; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wallace Newton; mother, Lula Newton; stepfather, Carl Newton; husband, Wayne; and an infant daughter, Carla.
