Mary Eleanor Erwin-Drake died Oct. 18, 2013, at Aspen Ridge Care Center. She was 95.
She was born Jan. 3, 1918, to Claude and Gertrude Erwin.
She lived in many places while growing up and graduated from Caney High School in Caney, Kan.
She married Frank Drake June 25, 1939, in Medicine Lodge, Kan. They lived briefly in Bismarck, N.D., and in Lyons, Kan., Topeka, Kan., and Kansas City, Kan., before retiring and moving to Paonia in 1977. They moved to Grand Junction in 2004. They were married nearly 67 years before Frank died April 30, 2006.
Mrs. Erwin-Drake was active in the Presbyterian church in Lyons and Topeka, Kan. After moving to Paonia she became a member of the United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, cooking, canning, flower gardening, raising her children and teaching her grandchildren how to cook, how to love one another and the love of God.
She is survived by her children, Sherryn (Ray) Drake Eberly, Frank (Sandee) Drake and Dona Gearhart; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Francie Ann; one brother; and two sisters.
