Stanley Walter Stockton died Nov. 17, 2013, at his home on Rogers Mesa near Hotchkiss. He was 72.
No services are planned.
He was born in Eureka, Calif., March 5, 1941, to Walter and Lillian (Allen) Stockton. He spent his childhood in Eureka and graduated from high school there. He attended a junior college in Arizona.
On May 25, 1988, he married Margaret Ann McGinnis on a ranch near Nederland. He lived in Hotchkiss for the past 19 years.
Mr. Stockton served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Stengel's Gun Range and various hunting and fishing organizations.
He enjoyed being a cowboy, hunting, fly-fishing and anything outdoors. He was a conservationist.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Leslie Bazzi of Corvallis, Ore., and Shannon Stockton of Fernley, Nev.; a sister, Marji Smith of Ferndale, Calif.; four grandchildren; and two nieces.
