Everett Eugene Kesterson died Nov. 22, 2013, at Horizons Healthcare in Eckert. He was 90.
He was born in Dodge City, Kan., July 9, 1923, to Shelby and Lily (Copeland) Kesterson. He attended schools in Keys, Okla., Leoti, Kan., and Englewood, Kan. He graduated from Mullinville High School in 1941.
He was an electric arc welder for Cardwell Manufacturing.
He married Betheline McDonald in Pratt, Kan., May 2, 1942. In the fall 1942 he joined the Merchant Marine and spent a short time at Sheepshead Bay, N.Y. He was honorably discharged.
Mr. Kesterson was a salesman for General Baking Co. for six years. He was a salesman for Pillsbury Mills in the Wichita, Kan., area, Clinton, Mo., Concordia, Kan., and Salina Kan., from 1952 until he retired at the age of 55.
On May 6, 1985, the Kestersons moved to Cedaredge where he worked a short time for Go-fer and occasionally for Leisure Time Sports.
Mr. Kesterson is survived by his wife; son, Shelby (Carolyn) Kesterson of Longmont; daughter, Jana (John) Brown of Topeka, Kan.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joy Thornton of Desoto, Kan.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Nov. 30 at Grand Mesa Baptist Church, Highway 65 and Jay Avenue in Cedaredge.
