William "Bill" Oscar Linman of Crawford died Nov. 23, 2013. He was 77.
He was born in Crawford June 27, 1936, to Oscar and Adelia (Davis) Linman. He slept in the same room of the home in which he was born.
He graduated from Crawford High School in 1954. He joined the U.S. Army in March 1955 and returned home in January 1957. He served in South Korea.
Mr. Linman was a lifetime rancher. He served on the Crawford Water Conservancy District board, Crawford Clipper Ditch board, 28 years as its president, and was involved in the Crawford Mesa Domestic Water board. He was a member of the B.P.O.E. and a charter member of the Delta County Livestock Association.
He received a certificate of appreciation from the U.S. Forest Service for being instrumental in the formation of the West Elk Grazing Association.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Lila; four sons, Dennis (Penny) Linman and Leslie Linman, all of Hotchkiss, Lyle (Deb) Linman of Sedgwick, and Scott (Marilyn) of Colby, Kan.; two sisters, Patty (Dale) Patton of Grand Junction and Sharon (Don) Frey of Montrose; a brother, Archie (Linda) Linman of Klamath Falls, Ore.; a sister-in-law, Berth Ann Linman of Crawford; a brother-in-law, James Beal of Leavenworth, Kan.; eight grandchildren, Sherri (Paul) Brandt, Matt (Krista) Linman, Clint (Tamarah) Linman, Cris (Jessica) Linman, Eric (Michelle) Linman, Holli (Sam) Toman, Amy Linman (Chuck) Balke, Kelly (Justin) Korth; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lenore; an infant sister, Sara; a brother, Dale; and a grandson, Casey.
A funeral service was held Nov. 29 at Heritage Hall in Hotchkiss. Burial followed at Garden of Memories in Crawford.
