Nita Smith died Nov. 23, 2013, at her home in Delta. She was 60.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Nita Sue Flowers was born in Birmingham, Ala., May 30, 1953, to Billie and Chestine Flowers. She grew up and attended school in Birmingham.
On Jan. 25, 2005, she married James "Jim" Smith in Austin. They celebrated eight years of marriage this year.
Mrs. Smith was a retired rural postal carrier.
She enjoyed being a wife and mother, crocheting, reading, gardening, working in her yard, hiking, camping and traveling to the Florida coast to water ski.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary of Delta and the PACE program in Eckert. She attended First Baptist Church in Delta.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Jim of Delta; her parents, Billie and Chestine Flowers of Birmingham, Ala.; two daughters, Lisa Barron of Coeur d'alene, Idaho, and Lori Barron of Delta; four stepsons, Terrill Smith of Boise, Idaho, Aaron Smith of Salt Lake City, Utah, Joshua Smith and Jase Smith both of Delta; a brother, William Flowers of Birmingham, Ala.; and a stepgrandson, Ivan Smith.
She was preceded in death by a toddler sister, Tina Flowers.
Memorial contributions may be made to any organization seeking a cure for Parkinson's disease.
