Longtime Delta resident Dorothy Stephens died Nov. 28, 2013. She was 90.
Mrs. Stephens was born on a farm on California Mesa Aug. 10, 1923, to Anthony and Sophia Fangman. She attended Pea Green School and graduated from Olathe High School as valedictorian in 1941.
She married Darius Clark Aug. 18, 1941. They lived in Santa Monica, Calif., where she worked in the control tower of McDonnell Douglas during World War II. After the war the family moved back to Delta.
She worked in banking, beginning in 1952 at Colorado Bank and Trust. In the mid '70s she became an owner and executive vice president at First National Bank in Paonia. She was active in the Colorado Bankers Association and served on the DMEA board.
In the early '80s she married John Stephens. Soon after she retired.
Mrs. Stephens enjoyed her family and friends, traveling, golfing and playing duplicate bridge. She won several awards in these pursuits. She was part of a group which helped found the first ladies golf club in Delta.
She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Radakovich of Oregon; her husband, John of Delta; her daughter, Suzanne (Joe) White of Rancho Mirage, Calif.; her granddaughter, Stefani Tewes of Laguna Beach, Calif.; a stepdaughter; four stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Anthony Fangman Jr.
Burial will be private.
